As with all other types of technology, the internet is constantly evolving and there are certain elements of website design which are here today and gone tomorrow. For example, chiropractor web design might seem simple enough on the face of it, but if you don’t follow the right web design principles, you won’t be able to tap into the right audience.

Here are a few design flaws to give you an example of how their application on a website can ruin its entire purpose, which is to attract user’s attention and conversions.

  1. Bad Fonts

The Comic Sans font, which was initially released along with five other fonts on Windows 95, has since become one of the most widely used, and later reviled fonts around. It’s interesting to note that during its initial release, this font was meant for fun, creative projects, owing to its very casual and candid style, and you’d be hard pressed to find its use in chiropractor web design, for example.

However, thanks to the fact that it’s so easy to use and read, you would find it literally everywhere and that soon became annoying. But now, the Comic Sans font’s use has declined to the point that web designers don’t even recommend it to their clients, especially if you want to be taken seriously with a professional-looking website.

  1. Moving Elements

Finding out that you can incorporate bouncy moving parts to a website can be a fun and intriguing discovery for a web designer, especially for theones that are just starting out. However, as they say, too much of a good thing can be bad for you, and the same goes for the liberal use of flashy design elements.

You see, in order to grab the user’s attention, you need to have one focus point instead of ten. That’s why websites with too many moving pieces are often seen as “spammy” and illegitimate, so this definitely wouldn’t do for chiropractor web design or for the creation of a similar professional website.

At the end of the day, it’s important to keep in mind that the whole point of flashy design elements like clicking buttons is to entice people to focus on important features which will drive them to an option to make a decision (i.e. purchase or read something).

Plus, these days you have the option of incorporating static yet interactive animations which only move when the user hovers over them with the mouse. This is a great way to draw the user’s attention to truly important elements of the website and it should always be done in a subtle way.

  1. Poor Colour Contrast

In order to make a website interesting and enticing in today’s world of options, it’s important to create the right colour contrast. For example, if your brand colours are a bring canary yellow and red, it may not be a good idea to have those colours plastered all over your website, as that would surely hurt visitor’s eyes.

Instead, try to find the balance by incorporating a white background so that the user is able to read the text and understand what they’re seeing.

Also, the rule of thumb when contrasting colours in the web design world is to keep them 4.5 to 1 between text and background, 1.07 to 1 when working with the colours yellow and white, or 21 to 1 when working with the colours black and white etc.
